APEM Introduces High-Performance PushButton Switches for Heavy Equipment Applications
13000X778 Series Offers Superior Durability and Safety
APEM., a leading manufacturer of high quality miniature and industrial switches, introduces its high performance 13000X778 Series professional grade push/pull pushbutton switches. These switches are well suited for overhead crane controls and in industrial, heavy equipment, construction and military applications where superior durability and safety are required.
The 13000X778 family of switches is sealed to IP67 and features a double shell case for superior mechanical strength and electrical insulation. The positive detent action and the five-pound actuation force help to ensure reliable operation. The switch is offered with a red anodized aluminum actuator. Special colors are also available.
The 13000X778 Series ROHS compliant pushbutton switches come standard with gold-plated, solid silver rivet contacts and a matte black chromium finish for a non-reflective appearance. The switch is suitable for ultra-low level applications of 10mA at 50mV and for power applications up to 4 Amps at 125VAC
PBA Series - Nearly Indestructible Piezo Switches
APEM has recently introduced new lines of piezo switches. With piezo technology, a naturally occurring crystal, when subjected to a mechanical 'push' force or stress, produces an electrical output, which is transduced through electronic circuitry for switching (MosFet).
Unlike an electromechanical switch that has moving contacts and other parts that will eventually wear out, as well as suffer the life shortening effects of pitting, corrosion, contact bounce, and contamination, piezo switches offer many advantages. Piezo switches have no moving parts, are waterproof and impervious to other types of contamination (like coffee, glue, solder flux, detergents, cleaning solvents and others), and are unaffected by EMI or RFI. This results in a switch that has a life expectancy in excess of 50 million cycles.
APEM's PBA series switches are offered in NO, NC, NO (pulse), NC (pulse) and programmable output pulse length models. The NO and NC models are rated 200 mA at 24 V and have switch resistance less than 10 ohms. Standard models in 16 and 22 mm round and square configurations, with or without L.E.D. illumination are offered. The aluminum housing body is available in 5 cosmetic colors as well as natural anodize. 4 L.E.D. colors are optional.
Piezo switches are ideal for use in harsh applications like beverage dispensers, lifts, safety and security equipment, public internet, information and banking kiosks, food and medical equipment, mining, chemical and petrochemical equipment and many others
